If you’re not used to putting in eye drops, the process can be kind of tricky. Your natural response is to blink or close your eyes before the drop hits. Here are some tips that might help:
Tilt your head backward and gently pull down your lower eyelid
Look up while squeezing one drop into the pocket of your lower lid
Close your eye for three minutes
Blot around your eyes to remove excess liquid
Gently press on the inside corner of your closed eye to prevent drainage
You can also try placing a drop in the corner of your closed eye. When you open your eye slowly, the drop should flow into your ocular area. Contact BayState Eye Center for more information about available medications.
