Alyssa Is On A Mission

We’d like to introduce you to Alyssa.

Alyssa Asamoa

She’s a technician at our Plymouth office. Alyssa has been with our BayState Eye Center team for the past five months… and she’s on a mission.

In a couple of weeks, Alyssa will team up with Dr. Lynch and his son, on a volunteer mission to Mexico. They’re going to help thousands of people see better.

They’ll hand out glasses, perform eye exams, and even help provide sight-saving procedures.

In short, they’re going to change peoples’ outlook on life.

When Alyssa found out that our goal is to help people across the world see better, she volunteered immediately.

Turns out, helping people is nothing new to her. She has helped organize several volunteer efforts through her church and when she was in college.

“When I got hired, they told me about the mission trips. It was a no-brainer for me. Helping people is at the very core of humanity and going on this mission is another way for me to do that.”

When Alyssa’s not working or helping people, you might find her at a beach or a movie theater.

She’s also a ballroom and Latin dancer!

She can also hit the high note. In fact, during a volunteer trip to Cuba in college, she sang with a Cuban in front of a big crowd! But most of her singing is at church or in the recording studio. You’ll have to ask her about it!

But when it comes to our trip in two weeks, Alyssa simply can’t wait.

“I’m just really excited to help people,” she said.

The greatest gift you can give to someone is the gift of sight.

If you’d like to help us before we leave on May 14th, here are three ways to do so:

  • Buy a new pair of glasses! A small amount of money from the sale of each pair of glasses goes toward funding our volunteer missions
  • You can donate glasses (or sunglasses) that we can bring with us
  • Monetary donations are also accepted at our Mansfield, Plymouth, and Bridgewater offices

Your acts of kindness will create life-changing moments for young children, or secure a smile on an older person’s face – when they can see clearly again.

From all of us at BayState Eye Center,

Thank you
