We’d like to introduce you to our new eye doctor!

Meet Dr. Donna Zhang.

She grew up in Sharon and still lives in the area with her husband (high school sweetheart) and baby boy – who will celebrate his first birthday soon!

Dr. Zhang earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto. After that, she earned her doctorate at the New England College of Optometry.

She is a big volunteer! One of her missions took her to the Dominican Republic where she helped underserved communities with eye care and glasses.

When she’s not volunteering, taking care of patients, or taking care of her baby boy, Dr. Zhang enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, camping, and traveling. Her favorite place is Barcelona, Spain.

The picture above was taken pre-pandemic. Dr. Zhang hasn’t traveled since.

As far as becoming an eye doctor – Dr. Zhang’s motivation came from her grandfather.

“My grandfather was diagnosed with glaucoma. He had some severe vision issues due to that. I wanted to learn more about what I could do to help him and others in his position. The medical approach to solving the problem really caught my interest,” Dr. Zhang said.

Plain and simple, Dr. Zhang is a people person. That’s why we couldn’t be happier to have her join our Bay State Eye Care family at the Walmart Vision Center in North Attleboro.

“My favorite part about being an eye doctor is the patient interactions. I love meeting new patients. I also love seeing repeat patients and being there for them. I’ve been practicing long enough to see children grow up and that’s so rewarding,” she said.

Speaking of seeing new patients, Dr. Zhang is now seeing new patients at our Mansfield office. So if you haven’t had an eye exam in a while, you should schedule one with Dr. Zhang!
