How We Helped Robert With His Double Vision!

Meet Robert. He Had Double Vision.

Robert's story about double vision

Meet Robert, a Tom Brady fan who has been a Bay Eye Center patient for a few months.

He’s a hard-working young man who is juggling a job and a bunch of college courses right now. Robert’s story caught our attention and we wanted to share it with you. Robert was driving home from work a couple years ago when something caught his eye.

“I was looking at the sky and the trees and I was asking myself if there were mountains in the distance. Turns out, there were only trees. I was seeing stuff that wasn’t there,” Robert said. “On the same ride home, I also saw a license plate with lines going through the numbers.”

Not too long after that wild ride, his eyes played tricks on him again.

“I was throwing the football around with my dad and he had two heads! One head was right on top of the other. I was also seeing two footballs come at me. I’m not sure how I was able to catch it, but I did,” he said.

In short, Robert had double-vision. He described his vision as very blurry and distorted. Robert lived like that for a couple of years.

“It was very frustrating. I would get headaches while doing my school work,” he said. When he finally couldn’t take it anymore, he decided to take action.

“I Googled ‘scleral lenses near me’ and Bay Eye Center popped up.”

Scleral lenses are a specialty, custom-made, contact lens that help people with irregular shaped eyes, dry eyes, or surgical complications, see better. Robert had already done his research. He knew he wanted to try scleral lenses. So he made an appointment with our scleral lens expert, Dr. Joyce Rached. When the day came, he sat in the chair and listened to Dr. Rached explain exactly what to expect.

Then he put the first scleral lens in…

Moments later.. the second lens.

That’s when the magical moment happened. The moment when Robert became overrun with emotion. After two years of double-vision, blurry vision, distorted vision, and frustrating headaches…

Robert could see again.

“I didn’t know what I was missing. I couldn’t remember what it was like to see. I had no words. It was a blessing,” he said.

“I want to tell Dr. Rached that you guys are amazing. I am just thankful that Bay Eye Center came into my life. I wouldn’t be able to see without them,” Robert said.
