In honor of UV Safety Awareness Month, we want to shine a light on a sneaky but significant culprit in the eye health realm: UV radiation. Yep, we’re talking about the same stuff that makes you reach for sunscreen on a sunny day. But did you know that UV rays can also affect your eyes and vision? 2. Broaden Your Brim. 👒🧢 On sunny days, donning a wide-brimmed hat not only adds a touch of style, but also provides extra shade and protection for your eyes.
3. Timing is Everything. ⏰ When possible, try to limit your outdoor activities during peak sun hours (typically between 10 am and 4 pm), as UV rays are strongest during this time.
4. Contact Lenses. 👁 If you wear contact lenses, opt for those with built-in UV protection. It’s important to keep in mind however, that contacts don’t cover your entire eye, so sunglasses are still crucial.
5. Kid’s Eye Care. 👧🏼👦🏽 Remember, children’s eyes are more vulnerable to UV damage. Encourage them to wear sunglasses and hats to develop good habits early on.
